Only This Moment

Warning: This post took a while - don't blame me.
Remember Royksopp? Half of you may say "don't insult me". The other half may need me to remind you of the guys who had that bouncy track (Eple) which made it's way onto a hundred chill-out albums and a Lynx (see: Axe) commercial. Whichever demographic you subscribe to, it doesn't have a lot of bearing on the fact that they have a new album due out March 23, 2009.
It's been 3 years but it feels like a hell of a lot longer. I saw Royksopp on the final day of Fuji Rock 05, and they were probably my favourite act of the day (up against Mylo, Moby, Sigur Ros, New Order, Athlete, The Mars Volta and Primal Scream). Lots of electronic acts have claimed to play "live dj sets", but they are probably the closest thing to that that I've ever heard. Most groups either end up playing tracks on their computer or add enough instruments to make it a band, not a dj set. So they're probably not the first guys to hit electronic drums with timpani sticks wearing togas, but by god they deserve some credit for it.
The album (their third, after Melody: AM and The Understanding, and a live ep) is titled Junior, and includes guest appearances from Lykke Li, Robyn and reappearances from Anneli Drecker (vocalist on Sparks from Melody:AM) and Karin Dreijer of The Knife (vocalist on What Else Is There? from The Understanding).
With this and Invaders Must Die both due out in March, consider me more excited than a raptor in a movie theater.

I was gonna post about this too! Mostly because of Robyn and Lykke Li being vocalists, but I am excited nonetheless.
